Make a Meaningful Impact: Volunteer with Our Long-Term Care Residents

Rainycrest, Emo Long-Term Care, and Rainy River Long-Term Care are always happy to welcome new volunteers into our community.

Volunteering with us doesn’t have to be a big commitment - even a small amount of your time can make a meaningful difference in a resident’s day.

Ways You Can Get Involved

Opportunities can be simple, relaxed, and rewarding, such as:

🌱 Gardening alongside residents

💌 Friendly visits or becoming a pen pal

🎲 Playing games like snakes and ladders

📚 Reading together or starting a small reading group

If you’re looking to be a bit more involved, you can also:

🎉 Assist with recreational activities

🎈 Support special events

🚶 Help accompany residents to and from programs

👥 Facilitate group programs and social opportunities

Flexible and Welcoming

There’s no requirement to commit daily, weekly, or even monthly. We work with each volunteer to ensure the experience is flexible, enjoyable, and fits your schedule.
Once your onboarding and vulnerable sector check are complete, you’re welcome to drop in at your convenience—no need to pre-schedule each visit.
Our regular activity times are:

🕥 10:30 AM

🕜 1:30 PM

(seven days a week)

These are wonderful opportunities to connect with residents and be part of daily life in our homes.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is about presence. A simple conversation, a shared laugh, or a quiet moment together can brighten someone’s entire day. If you’re interested in learning more or getting started, we’d love to hear from you.
