RSV Outbreak on East Wing of Rainycrest Declared Over
April 13, 2026
Riverside
Health Care, in conjunction with the Northwestern Health Unit, has declared the
respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) outbreak over on the East Wing at Rainycrest
Long Term Care Home.
All resident
and visitor restrictions at the Home have been lifted.
While
the outbreak has concluded, Riverside Health Care continues to operate under
enhanced masking requirements across all Riverside facilities. At Rainycrest
Long Term Care Home, masking remains required for all visitors, care partners,
staff, and volunteers when in resident care areas and common areas.
We
continue to remind the public that infection prevention is a shared
responsibility. All individuals are asked to self-screen before visiting
patients or residents at any Riverside facility and to avoid visiting if they
are feeling unwell, particularly if experiencing cold- or flu-like symptoms.
Practicing proper hand hygiene when entering and leaving the building remains
essential.
Riverside
continues to follow comprehensive infection prevention and control practices
designed to protect our residents, staff, and the broader community.
Riverside
thanks residents, families, and staff for their continued patience,
cooperation, and commitment to safety throughout the outbreak period.
