Adult Day Worker - Personal Support Worker

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Support Services department is looking for 1 Part-Time Adult Day Worker (Defined hours of 40 hours per week)

Under the direction of the manager of Community Support Services (CSS), the Part-Time Adult Day Worker will be responsible for facilitating adult day programs in and around the Rainy River District. Time would be scheduled throughout the communities in the district. This position will support clients/patients in a safe and nurturing environment, while providing stimulating and social activities.

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • A Personal Support Worker diploma preferred, or the equivalent, knowledge, skills and experience. Certificate or diploma in a health care related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a health care setting is an asset.
  • Proficient in using MS office applications, including MS Word, EMR.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Valid Driver’s license, Class G and a safe driving record.
  • Valid commercial insurance.
  • Effective communication skill, both verbal and written.
  • Understands and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience working with the elderly in a community setting.
  • Ability to assess and respond to clients needs and set priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
  • Genuine interest and understanding for the care and need of the elderly.
  • Knowledge of the resources available in the communities.
  • Dependable with an excellent attendance record.
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job.

CLIENT DELIVERY OF SERVICE:

  1. Responsible for scheduling, attending, and planning Adult Day programming across the Rainy River District. Communities would include Fort Frances, Emo, Rainy River and on occasion Atikokan.
  2. Responsible for ordering crafts, food, and other supplies necessary in the Adult Day programs across the Rainy River District in conjunction with the CSS Coordinators.
  3. Liaises with the District organizations and resource persons to arrange entertainment programming for Adult Day programs.
  4. Maintain and compile attendance records and statistical information as per reporting procedure for submission to CSS Manager.
  5. Assist the CSS Coordinators/Manager in preparing quarterly reports for the Adult Day program.
  6. Assist in and/or plan the transportation of clients to and from activities relating to Adult Day Programs across the Rainy River District.
  7. Organize Adult Day staff meetings.
  8. Liaise with the CSS coordinators to schedule staff for Adult Day Programs across the Rainy River District.
  9. Collect weekly revenues from each site and prepare deposits in conjunction with the CSS Coordinator.
  10. Complete and submit petty cash purchases in conjunction with the CSS coordinators.
  11. Maintain rental site and Adult Day program equipment as per usage contract.
  12. Inventory control of Adult Day program equipment and supplies.
  13. Regular travel across the region as needed.
  14. Assist with Assisted Living, Home Support or any other areas within CSS as assigned by the CSS Coordinators or Manager.
  15. Any other duties as assigned by CSS Coordinators or Managers.
