REPORTS TO (Title):

Director, Diagnostic Imaging

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:

  •      Registered MLT
  •      Member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), or be eligible and apply for membership
  •      Hospital experience is an asset
  •      Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities
  •      Demonstrate high level of professional responsibility
  •      Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job
  •      Effective oral and written communication skills
  •      Proficient in computer database application ie HIS/LIS
  •      Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  •      Excellent attendance record
  •      Familiar with occupational health & safety workers’ rights and responsibilities

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •      To perform laboratory procedures as required with a high level of technical expertise and accuracy.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. General laboratory duties as required in the following departments:

- Haematology

- Bacteriology

- Transfusion medicine

- Biochemistry

- Parasitology

- Serology

- Specimen procurement and handling

2. Perform all work assignments safely and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures.

3. Participate in the Laboratory Quality Management Program.

4. Trouble-shoot equipment and/or procedure difficulties and contact appropriate service provider.

5. Participate in the duty roster as posted. Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends and on-call rotation.

6. Other such duties as may be designated from time to time by the immediate supervisor.

POSITION:

  •      Full Time Interim, Non-Union position (37.5 hours per week). Must be willing to work; days, evenings, nights, weekends, be able to take on-calls and overtime hours.
  •      This Full Time Interim position start date will be asap and end December 2026 with possible extension.
