Registered Practical Nurse

DESCRIPTION:

The Registered Practical Nurse is responsible for providing and coordinating nursing care to assigned clients, patients, and residents consistent with current Standards of Professional Practice with the Ontario College of Nurses, and carrying out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures.

Position: Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week); must be willing to work overtime, weekend, day, night, and evening shifts as well as take call.

Skill/Education Requirements:

  • Current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Current CPR

  • Hospital experience is an asset.

Security and Safety: Immunization records; Tuberculosis; Vulnerable Sector Check.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment; Work under pressure; physically demanding; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Standing for extended periods; Bending, crouching, kneeling

Successful candidate(s) would possess the following:

  • Current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse;

  • Current CPR;

  • Demonstration of strong nursing practice, skill and judgement;

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, leadership and mentoring skills;

  • Exhibits the ability and competence to work with all computer systems and applications;

  • Exercises behaviours consistent with Riverside Health Care’s Code of Conduct;

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights and weekends;

  • Demonstrates Riverside Health Care’s Core Values; Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Growth; Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel , and management;

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;

  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;

  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis
