Casual Cleaner

Salary Scale:

$21.49 /hour to $24.25 /hour per the CUPE 65-03 Wage schedule

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable to the Employer;

  • Must have knowledge of and/or adaptability to cleaning procedures and compounds, and supplies necessary to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment;

  • Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, i.e.: automatic floor scrubber, floor polishers, etc.;

  • Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management;

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;

  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;

  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

    BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cleaning and servicing of floors, walls, and ceilings.

  2. Attending to the disposal of garbage.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Dust mopping of floors.

  2. Wet mopping floors.

  3. Scrubbing floors.

  4. Strip and refinish floors.

  5. Buffing floors.

  6. Wash and disinfect walls and ceilings.

  7. Move beds and equipment for cleaning purposes.

  8. Assist Aides when required.

  9. Maintain equipment in clean condition.

  10. Collect and dispose of garbage.

  11. Participate in Department's Quality Management program.

  12. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act).

  13. Any such duties as may be designated from time to time by the immediate Supervisor.
