Clinical Dietitian Full Time – Interim

$34.10 - $43.45 /hour $66,501.23 - $84,727.89 /year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a Baccalaureate Degree Program with a major in Food and Nutrition from a University accredited by the Canadian Dietetics Association;
  • Successful completion of CDA approved Dietetic Internship;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply the principles of dietetics and nutrition and the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities;
  • Verbal ability to understand and use a technical vocabulary and to communicate effectively when instructing or advising people;
  • Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel , and management;
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. 1Plan, evaluate, and carry out the nutritional components of health care delivery for in-patients and out-patients within La Verendrye, Rainycrest Long Term Care, Emo and Rainy River Health Centres.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Plan and prescribe diets to ensure proper nutritional status.
  2. Provide nutritional assessment, counselling, education, and appropriate follow-up for in-patients and out-patients, upon physician's referral.
  3. Participate in continuing education programs.
  4. Act as a resource person for community and corporation personnel on matters of nutrition.
  5. Participate in relevant research and continuing liaison with community resource groups.
  6. Assist in the development and presentation of inservices for Department of Dietetics staff, and other corporation staff as required.
  7. Liaise with physicians and other health care providers on issues relating to nutritional care.
  8. Maintain accurate patient records and statistical information systems.
  9. Contribute to quality management activities by developing criteria and maintaining established standards of care, and conducting routine audits as assigned.
  10. Participate in the development of policies and procedures relating to clinical nutrition services.
  11. Participate in the evaluation of clinical nutrition services.
  12. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures (ie: Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Food Services Supervisor or designate.
