Medical Laboratory Technologist

$35.83/hour to $47.58/hour

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:

  • Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist;
  • Member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), or be eligible and apply for membership;
  • Hospital experience is an asset.
  • Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;
  • Demonstrate high level of professional responsibility;
  • Proficient in computer database application i.e. HIS/LIS;
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team,
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel , and management;
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The medical technologist will report to the Laboratory Supervisor and will perform a variety of laboratory tests in an accurate and timely manner. The candidate will be working in a fast paced, team environment and must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

In this role the successful candidate would be expected to carry out general laboratory duties such as:

  1. Haematology
  2. Bacteriology
  3. Transfusion medicine
  4. Biochemistry
  5. Serology
  6. Specimen procurement and handling
  7. Perform all work assignments safely and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures
  8. Participate in Laboratory Quality Management Program

POSITION:

Permanent Full-Time, Non-Union position (37.5 hours per week). Must be willing to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, be able to take on-calls and overtime hours.
