JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION (Title):

Full-Time Physiotherapy Support Personnel

DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA:

REPORTS TO (Title):

Manager, Therapeutic Services

The Rehabilitation department has an opening for a Full-Time Physiotherapy Support Personnel. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • Graduate of a Physiotherapy Assistant Program would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Experience with electronic documentation.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel and management.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written orders.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Functioning as part of the interdisciplinary health care team to assist in meeting basic needs of residents in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards of Riverside Health Care Facilities.

2. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable or in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

3. Seek assistance and guidance when necessary, observing residents’ needs and self-limitations.

4. Support corporate rehab quality improvements initiatives.

5. Exercise behaviour consistent with Riverside Health Care’s Principals of Conduct.

6. Demonstrates Riverside Health Care’s Core Values: Progressive, Integrity, Caring and Accountable.

7. Encouraging residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs.

8. Carry out treatment plan as set out by the Physiotherapist.

9. Document treatments and resident’s progress after each therapy session as per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.

10. Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or Nursing lead.

11. Perform treatments such as applying ice, hot packs, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Delivers resident care according to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Rehabilitation Services department.

a. Assessment: consult with PT to obtain client history, ambulation and transfer needs.

b. Planning: Assist the responsible PT to develop a plan of care and communicate and pertinent information accurately and promptly to the PT.

c. Implementation: Participates in the resident’s plan of care as communicated by the PT

i. Performs actions required for the implementation of care plans.

ii. Participate in patient teaching as delegated by the PT.

iii. Provide and maintain a safe and suitable environment for residents.

d. Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the outcomes of the Physiotherapy sessions and communicates with the PT.

i. Participates in altering the care plan as required.

ii. Ensures continuity of patient/client care through effective communication.

2. Participates in departmental and related committees/meeting when required.

3. Participates in educational activities and programs for residents.

4. Reports an untoward/unusual incident accurately and promptly to the PT.

5. Demonstrates the ability and competence to work will all computer systems and applications within the long-term care setting, such as but not limited to Point Click Care, Word, and Excel.

6. Participate in the department’s Quality Management Program.

7. Acts as a resident advocate. Respects the dignity, confidentiality and the rights of each individual receiving care within the facility.

8. Other duties or responsibilities as may be delegated.

POSITION AVAILABLE:
