JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION (Title): 

Full-Time Cleaner

DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA:

Environmental Services

REPORTS TO (Title): 

Supervisor, Environmental Services

 

 

 

 

 

  

The Environmental Services department has an opening for a Full-Time Cleaner. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

 

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable to the employer;
  • Must be cooperative, conscientious, reliable, neat in appearance, and have good interpersonal relationships;
  • Must have knowledge of and/or adaptability to cleaning procedures and compounds, and supplies used to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment;
  • Dependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilities;                       
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel , and management;
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.          

 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cleaning and servicing of floors, walls and ceilings (including dust mopping and wet mopping floors, scrubbing floors, strip, refinish and buffing floors).
  2. Attending to the disposal of garbage.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Dust mopping of floors.
  2. Wet mopping floors
  3. Scrubbing floors.
  4. Strip and refinish floors.
  5. Buffing floors.
  6. Wash and disinfect walls and ceilings.
  7. Move beds and equipment for cleaning purposes.
  8. Assist Aides when required.
  9. Maintain equipment in clean condition.
  10. Collect and dispose of garbage. 
  11. Participate in Department's Quality Management program.
  12. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  13. Any such duties as may be designated from time to time by the immediate Supervisor.

RESPONSIBLE TO: 

The Full-Time Cleaner is responsible to the Supervisor of Environmental Services.

  •   Salary as per Union schedule. 

CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:

This position may be required to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends 

POSITION AVAILABLE:

This Full-Time position will commence: May 2, 2024.
