Riverside Health Care is a fully accredited multi-site, multi-faceted health care system providing service to the Rainy River District in spectacular Northwestern Ontario. Riverside Health Care encompasses Hospital, Long Term Care, and Community Services. The district has a number of major sites including LaVerendrye General Hospital, Rainycrest Long Term Care, Rainy River Health Centre, Emo Health Centre, others. The Community Services department has an opening for a Casual Handivan Driver. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:
  • A grade 12 Diploma and/or related education or appropriate related educational qualifications deemed acceptable by the Employer;
  • Must possess a Class F driver’s license;
  • Proven knowledge of computers;
  • Experience in transporting seniors, considered an asset;
  • Must be able to work in a Long Term Care environment;
  • Demonstrates Riverside Health Care’s Core Values; Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Growth;
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel , and management;
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record;
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for resident and community people transportation to and from appointments as required by departments of the home.
  2. Responsible for maintaining a clean vehicle for operation.
  3. Required to do daily safety check of vehicle, and maintain daily safety log.
  4. Required to maintain a mileage log.
  5. Reports all vehicle discrepancies to Manager.
  6. Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to Drivers of Transportation Services.
  7. Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, visitors, staff and general public.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.
  9. Attends staff development programs and meetings as authorized by Manager
  10. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
  11. May be required to help out casually in Maintenance if needed.
  12. Carries out work assignments safely and is knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevantnregulations, policies and procedures (ie. Occupational Health and Safety Act.)
