Early Bird Winner Turns Winnings into a Gift for the Community

September 16, 2025

Riverside Health Care is pleased to announce that Bob MacDonald is the winner of the first-ever Riverside 50/50 Early Bird Draw, proudly sponsored by The Barn. Bob won $1,000 but, in an incredible gesture of generosity, has chosen to donate the full amount back to the campaign.

This act of kindness highlights the true spirit of our communities. At Riverside, community is at the heart of our mission. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every gesture of support brings us closer to delivering innovative equipment and high-quality health care to the Rainy River District. With Bob’s contribution, we are now $1,000 closer to our goal of installing a new MRI unit and replacing aging X-ray equipment at both La Verendrye General Hospital and Rainy River Health Centre.

“Bob’s generosity shows the very best of our district,” said Holly Kaemingh, Director of Fundraising at Riverside Health Care. “We are so grateful for his gift, which, along with the support of The Barn as our Early Bird sponsor, helps us bring the technology people in our communities deserve close to home.”

Riverside’s Lights, Camera, DIAGNOSIS campaign is about more than just equipment. It is about ensuring that families, friends, and neighbours across our district have access to the same quality of care as larger centres. Importantly, 100% of donations to the campaign go directly to the equipment and programs they are intended to support, strengthening health care for generations to come.

Getting in on the draw is easy: grab your tickets online at www.rhc5050.com, stop by the La Verendrye General Hospital Administration Office (Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.), or call 807-274-6635 to purchase by phone. The September pot is already over $5,000 and climbing, and every dollar donated gets us closer to our goal while also growing the pot for one lucky winner. That winner could be you!
