Medical Air System Upgrade Now Enhancing Care at La Verendrye General Hospital

Riverside Health Care is pleased to announce the successful upgrade and expansion of its Medical Air Compressor System at La Verendrye General Hospital (LVGH). This critical infrastructure enhancement now provides medical-grade air directly to the hospital’s labour and delivery rooms and nursery.

Medical-grade air plays an essential role in hospital care, particularly in supporting the respiratory needs of newborns and patients requiring oxygen therapy. Previously, portable units were required in these individual spaces. With this upgrade, LVGH now benefits from a centralized system that delivers a consistent, high-quality supply of medical air to these key inpatient areas, improving safety, care delivery, and clinical workflow.

“This is a significant step forward in the quality of care we provide, especially in our obstetrics and newborn care areas,” said Julie Cousineau, Director of Nursing. “Having medical-grade air available directly in these rooms supports safer, more effective treatment and reduces reliance on portable systems. We are ensuring our youngest patients have access to the safest and most reliable environment possible, from their first moments of life.”

The enhanced system is now fully operational. Riverside extends its thanks to the teams who supported this project from planning through implementation.

“Upgrades like this are part of our broader commitment to improving health services across the entire Riverside system,” said Henry Gauthier, Riverside’s President & CEO. “Continued investment in critical infrastructure ensures we can meet the evolving needs of those we serve with safe, timely, and high-quality support. We remain dedicated to strengthening our capacity and improving the experience of care for all who rely on Riverside, today and into the future."
